Lee-Ann’s 30 years with the NHS!
The Stamford Surgery team would like to congratulate and thank Lee-Ann Gasson who has reached her 30-year milestone working for the NHS. She began her career as a receptionist in Thorpe Road and Millfield surgeries in Peterborough, before making the move to St Mary’s in Stamford in 2012.
As well as reception she soon started doing administration for the nursing team. Then she took on the booking and administration for the twice weekly travel and baby immunisation clinics. It was a part of her role that she really loved, advising patients on what they needed and scheduling their vaccinations.
Lee-Ann, who always loves the challenge of learning new skills, then studied to be a Healthcare Assistant, completing external courses plus in-house training to get her qualification. After two years as a HCA she wanted a change and returned to the administrative sector, joining the Quality Outcomes Framework (QOF) team.

Their role is to ensure that targets are reached in key areas, including in caring for patients with long term conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. This includes making sure that medication reviews are up to date and patients are booked into clinics for monitoring.
Lee-Ann said: ‘It has been a great career and when I started out aged 22 I never dreamt I would still be working in a GP practice 30 years later! Things are always changing, so you have to be adaptable. We have bigger teams and offer many more services compared to those early days.
‘For me, it is also about the people that you work with. All my colleagues are amazing, particularly Lisa and Dawn in the QOF team. You are constantly learning in this role which combines admin and patient care. I can’t believe how quickly the years have flown. I have made some great friends, love my job and wouldn’t change it for the world, so have no plans to stop anytime soon!’
Practice Manager, Teri White, said: 'Congratulations to Lee-Ann on a remarkable achievement. She has seen many changes over those 30 years and this brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into her current role. Lee-Ann is well respected and highly valued and I am proud to have her as part of the Stamford team.'
