Meet Kerry, our Digital Champion
At The Stamford Surgery, we understand that using digital services doesn’t always feel easy. That’s why we have Kerry, our new Digital Champion, who is here to help patients feel more confident using our digital services.
Kerry is a Patient Services Advisor and is available to support patients who want help or reassurance when using digital services. Many patients are happy to give digital services a go but aren’t sure where to start.
“My role as a Digital Champion is to be available to patients who want guidance and reassurance when using our digital platforms. A lot of patients are willing to try digital services, but they just need someone to talk them through it.”
Kerry also runs informal drop-in support sessions at both Sheepmarket Surgery and St Mary’s Medical Centre. These sessions give patients the chance to learn how to use Anima, as well as other digital tools such as System Online and the NHS App. Patients can ask questions and learn at their own pace. Details of upcoming drop-in sessions are shared on our website and on our Facebook page.
We use a number of digital tools across the practice to help make accessing care easier. There are self-check-in screens and Anima tablets available at both Sheepmarket Surgery and St Mary’s Medical Centre, and Kerry is on hand to help patients use them if needed.
From home, patients can use:
- System Online to view test results, update contact details, read messages, and order repeat prescriptions
- The NHS App to view results, manage details, and book into services they have been referred to
- Anima to make non-urgent medical or administrative requests and communicate with clinicians

Patients who attend drop-in sessions often tell us they feel more confident and reassured afterwards. Some patients have said they were pleased with how quickly they received a response using Anima, and many feel more independent once they understand how the systems work.
Using digital services is always a choice. If you don’t want to use them, you can still contact the surgery by phone, and our patient service advisors at reception will help you in the usual way. Digital services are there to support your care, not replace personal contact.
Kerry enjoys helping patients understand the options available to them and often encourages patients to bring in their own phone or device so they can learn how to use the services in a way that feels familiar and comfortable.
“If patients feel nervous about using digital services, I always encourage them to come into the surgery and ask for me. I’m more than happy to talk them through everything, step by step.”
If you feel unsure or nervous about using digital services, please come into the surgery and ask for Kerry. She will be happy to help and support you.
