What is Pharmacy First?

The NHS Pharmacy First scheme encourages people to visit their local pharmacy for minor health concerns instead of booking a GP appointment or going to A&E.

Pharmacists are trained healthcare professionals who can:

  • Provide advice and treatment for common conditions.
  • Help you get care on the same day, often without the need for an appointment.
  • Refer you to a GP or other services if needed.

By choosing your pharmacy for minor illnesses:

  • GP and hospital appointments are freed up for people who need them most.
  • NHS resources can be used where they are needed most.

Many people instinctively contact their GP or visit A&E when they feel unwell, but for minor conditions, this isn’t always the quickest or best option.

We look forward to welcoming you to our event and showing how Pharmacy First can make a real difference for you and your family.
